Team Building - Promotion

The Edge Mountain Retreat has teamed up with Hobbiton to offer team-building courses 

The package focuses on developing life skills through the following team building activities: middle ropes course, group dynamics and orienteering.
They also promote self-development through individual activities such as abseiling, trapeze work, wall-climbing and the sky frame.

Hogsback is well known for it's beautiful hiking trails, both long and short, which take you through indigenous forests and pine plantations to breathtaking views and waterfalls.

Mountain Biking

There is a large variety of informal mountain bike trails to explore leading through the forests and over the mountains.
Hogsback hosts a few mountain biking events annually.

Horse Riding

We can put you in touch with the organizers of horse trails in Hogsback. The trails take you through valleys, over mountain plateau's and along winding streams.


Fly-fishing can be arranged on some of the beautiful farms near Hogsback.

Bird Watching & Wildlife

Hogsback is a popular birding destination for viewing forest, grassland and water birds.You are sure to see a few birds of prey including eagles, jackal buzzards and kites, as well as Turaco's, the endangered Cape Parrot and many other species. We also have regular visits from the rare Samango monkeys and baboons.


Hogsback is famous for it cool climate gardens, garden tours, garden visits and our rose and azalea nurseries.
Hogsback host an annual Spring Garden Festival as well as a
Rose Festival. 

Other things to do in Hogback include abseiling, archery, mountain-bike hire, rock climbing
rope courses and visit local artists, crafters and art installations.
